Galley Kitchen

The Galley Kitchen is a delight.  The kitchen is not real large, but contains everything one wants or needs to prepare culinary delights.

The cabinets are vintage metal cabinets from the 40's & 50’s. These were the “high class” cabinets that had electricity and lights in them.

There are lights situated below that you can turn on for soft lighting in the room.
The top cabinets have lovely opaque glass doors.

There is a Lazy Susan in one corner.

These cabinets are almost extinct today but can be found here, in this small galley kitchen.  Other cabinets have been designed and custom made to compliment the kitchen.

Dressing the new cabinets, as well as the dishwasher, are cutting board counter tops.

These cutting board counter tops were custom made, the old fashion way.  Notice the spindles that go through them.  They are made from hard rock maple, which is the correct wood for a cutting board.  They have not been finished so they can actually be used as cutting boards.  They are beautiful as well as practical.

The kitchen has a side by side refrigerator waiting to hold your favorite food.  For convenience, the freezer door holds ice and cold water, filtered, of course.

A range with two ovens will make a very handy asset.  A small oven on top for those small items and a large oven for more substantial dishes.  A microwave hovers above the stove, and also acts as a vent for the stove.

The double sink came with the vintage cabinets.  However, it has been equipped with a new Kohler faucet with a pull out sprayer.  The old sprayer hole has been converted into a soap dispenser.

A large, double window rests over the sink.  It allows you to enjoy the lovely scenery at the back of the home including a picturesque view of the lake.

A dishwasher conveniently rests next to the sink, ready for use when needed.  From the cutting board top, you can look out the kitchen window, or gaze at the lake through the lovely French doors in the living room.

Between the living area and the galley kitchen is a lovely, solid wood bar.  The top is Oak and was designed and handmade to fit the bar.  Holding the bar in place are handmade spindles that were built to match.  Above the bar are delightful track lights that give plenty of light when eating at the bar or preparing a meal on the counter below the bar.  Built into the side of the bar are shelves to hold the coffee, filters, and coffee cups.  Delightful.

The bar that separates the kitchen from the living room makes for a nice place to enjoy a meal or have a family member or friend set and converse while a meal is being prepared.

This galley kitchen has plenty of light.  There is a light over the sink, a fan in the center of the room, and track lighting over the bar.  Isn't it nice to be able to actually see what you are preparing?

Living & entertaining in this area will be comfortable and convenient.
