Downstairs Bedroom

On the east side of the lower level is a lovely bedroom.  This is the green bedroom.  The walls are an unusual hue of green that matches many shades of the green outdoors.  The walls have a sand feeling to them.  The ceiling is also unusual.  Here again we find the old type ceiling tins.  However, this time, there is a twist.  Holding the tins in place are individual pieces of wood, as though caressing each tin and keeping it safe.  The ceiling paint is green with the tiles embossed with a darker shade to bring out the pattern.  Even the carpet in this room looks as thought it was made specifically for this room.

Hanging from the ceiling is a lovely fan and light.  The fan has lights below for “light”.  There are also lights that can be turned on that are “hidden” above the fan.  This gives a lovely soft glow when used alone.

To add to the ambience of the room, there are rope lights, again “hidden” behind the attractive crown molding that goes around the room.  The crown molding, the baseboard, and the trim are all stained to match and to go perfectly in this delightful, romantic, bedroom.

There is one large window that looks out over the veranda and a smaller one that lends lights from the east.  The room has a private door leading out to the covered veranda.  The door is garnished with a fingerprint doorknob to make it easy to exit and enter without worrying about a key, providing a personal entrance to this bedroom.  Beautiful glass graces the center of the door to add more charm to the room, both by the beauty of the door and by the lovely light patterns the light makes when shinning through the glass.

The focal point of the room is in the southeast corner.  It has a lovely fireplace which is located halfway up the wall.  Surrounded by stone the fireplace lends a very romantic air to the room.  It's location allows it to be seen from the bed or anywhere else in the room.

Above the fireplace is where the small window sets that lends eastern light to the room.  The fireplace was designed with a “top” or “mantel” so a charming piece of art or vase could be placed there.

The three bedrooms in the home that have a fireplace all have one thing in common.  Near the fireplace, in the ceiling, is a can light.  It is positioned so a chair can be placed under it and the person in the chair can enjoy the fire, appreciate the beautiful views, and have a good reading light to entertain yourself with a good book.

All the bedrooms have another thing in common.  Above the beds, on both sides of the bed, can lights have been placed in the ceiling for easy reading in bed.  These lights can be turned on or off from the convenience of the bed.  There will be no eye straining from reading from the beds in this home.

This bedroom has the cans lights put in two (2) different areas so that the bed can be placed in two different areas and still have the convenience of the reading lights.

In the southwest corner of the bedroom is a very unusual door.

This is a 75 year old antique door with a round top.  It was hand painted by Peter Stetzendo who was a Famous Russian artist.  He was a motion picture back ground painter and scenic artist.  He worked for the studios for 50 years.  He worked for RKO, Universal, Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, Republic, Columbia, Max Sennet.  He worked for all the studios and TV.  The center of the door has a beveled mirror.  Surrounding the mirror are leaves painted by the artist.  The designer chose to not have this side of the door refinished so the uniqueness and authenticity of the door could be kept.  The green in the room was chosen specifically because of the green in this door.

Another great find by the designer.

A place to sleep in beauty, safety, and comfort.
