Safe Room
The safe room is located along the north-east side of the home, this is the
area considered the safest from storms. Also, in this location, the room
is underground on two sides, another safety factor.
The room is not very large, however it was not designed to
"live in". It is designed to keep people safe when there is a storm.
(Maybe for other reasons also.) It is large enough to hold a bunk bed so
someone could go to sleep here to wait the storm out. If you choose a bunk
bed with a Futon on the bottom, add a trundle bed underneath, this room could
easily sleep four.
| Shelves have been built along the south
side. This is perfect to keep the items you will want to keep here in case
of an emergency. |
 |
This "storm cellar, or "safe room", has two exits. If
one gets blocked, there is another way out.
 |
There has even been a special holder
designed in which to place an ax, in case one is needed to leave the
room. |
Both doors are reinforced
steel. The entire room, as well as the adjoining bathroom, are built with
reinforced concrete; walls, floor and ceiling.
The room has carpet on the floor to help keep feet warm and
to give it more of a "room" feeling, rather than a "cellar" feeling.
A door to the north leads to a complete bathroom for
simple convenience. If one has to remain here for the night, or longer, the
bathroom would come in very handy.

a storm? Not in Monarch Manor!
