Cowboy Bath

According to statistics, most men like two channels on television, the weather channel and the cowboy channel.  So....why not make a bathroom the "guys" will love because of the "cowboy", and the ladies would love because of the uniqueness.  Viola.....

One of the half baths located on the main floor is convenient for guests to use.  This is the guest, or rather, the "Cowboy" bath.

The door where you enter is very western, even including some bars and a small door that opens to "look out".  Ok, get ready, you are about to enter the days of cowboys and Indians.  That seems very strange in this home.  You slowly open the door and ……

Straight ahead there is an ORIGINAL OUTHOUSE SITTING IN THIS ROOM!!!  This is an authentic outhouse removed from a farm in Iowa.  AND...it’s a “two seater”.

Outhouse in Cowboy Bath

Twin “old fashion” wooden tanks are on the wall, the type that were used many years ago.  The picture shows the type of toilet.  (It actually does have “normal”, water toilets to use.)  You breathe a sigh of relief.

The north wall now it holds an old copper bathtub -- well over 100 years old.  You think surely Billy the Kid must have bathed in this tub.  And he might well have.  It originally came from Fort Smith, Arkansas, out of a house of ill repute.  A plumber looked at the hand made drain and said he had never seen anything like it.  This is a personal item and will not remain with the home.

Above the tub hangs an original artwork from the 60’s.  Your surroundings help the picture draw you in and you can almost hear the sound of cattle mooing, horses nickering, and cowboys yelling.  It’s a strange, yet peaceful idea, and we think this will make you smile.

On the south wall is a homemade cabinet, made from old wood taken from an old barn in Arkansas.  On top of this is a copper bowl that is now a working sink.  A Kohler faucet, in the shape of an old pump, delivers water to the patron.

The walls are covered with wood from an old barn.  Behind it is newspaper, just like they used to use for insulation.  It was even put up with floor and water, the old fashioned way.  Old rusted tin adorns the ceiling.  The floor looks to be old but you get the feeling it’s not really.

Next to the sink is a "medicine cabinet", also made from old wood.

As you start to leave the room, you turn for one more look.  It dawns on you that this is the bath the guests will use when on this floor.  What a neat surprise will await each and everyone.  The designer has found another unusual way to make guests smile and take them away, even if only for a moment, from their everyday life.  Back to the days of yesteryear.

Guest will be delighted when they use this "powder room"!
