Dining Room

This entire room is a work of art.  This is the "Oak Room", so named because of the oak wood in various places throughout the room.  The room is not large but was designed to be a cozy place to dine and relax with family and friends.  It is also a wonderful place to have an intimate dinner.

There is a large bay window to the north.  The window framing is made of oak, as is the window seat and the doors below.  A fountain is just outside the window overlooking the gardens of the front lawn.  Beyond the gardens is the serene woodland across the way.

Two gas light fixtures grace either side of the generous window and you can envision the atmosphere they will create when lit.  Night or day, this venue is delightful.  In the day the large bay window brings in sunlight and cheer into this quant space.

Lights have been installed in the ceiling of the bay window to offer a lovely place to relax and enjoy the serenity or read a book.

In the evening, with the fireplace and gas lights lit and candles on the table, it offers charm, romance, enchantment.

The west wall boasts a delightful, quaint fireplace.  This fireplace does not use gas or wood.  Instead, the designer chose to incorporate a fireplace into this room that uses gel fuel.  This fireplace will put off no odors to interfere with the aromas produced by the tantalizing food served here.  However, it will offer ambience from the fire and the charming sound of burning wood.  The best of both worlds, as the cliché goes.  Don't like it here?  It can be moved as easy as any piece of furniture.

The south wall has a pass through to make it convenient to move items back and forth between the kitchen and the dining room.  It also is surrounded by an oak frame.

The remaining wall, the east wall, is a delight.

Part of the wall has oak paneling.  The other part of the wall is open to the staircase which ascends to the top floor.  Lovely oak spindles stand as an open wall between the two spaces.

Oak wood is beautiful but can be heavy.  However, used carefully, as has been done here, it brings warmth.  The floor is, of course, Oak.  This Oak is done in a striking parquet design.

Oak covers the floor; Oak lines one area of the east wall; Oak rests on the window seat and the doors below.  The trim around the ceiling is oak.  All of this is custom designed and stained the same oak color.  All of this Oak is, in and of itself, beautiful.  However, none of it can compare to the unusual ceiling that glides above the room.

The ceiling is curved!  Oak beams enclose this curved wonder and find their way from each corner to the center circle.  The center circle was hand cut into a circular pattern.  Suspended from the center of this circle hangs a crystal antique chandelier.  Unobtrusive, it waits so, when called upon, it can bathe this room in wondrous light. This alone would make this room unique, as well as beautiful.

However, the ceiling itself is a fabulous work of art!

The ceiling has been hand painted with a scene of the sky, trees, and small animals.

A tree is growing on one side with a squirrel enjoying its branches and a blue bird flying to it for shelter.

Lights are hidden behind the beams so the ceiling can be bathed in quiet light, delicately illuminating both artists creations, the painter and the carpenter.

Let's have dinner by candles & the gas lights tonight.
