Chinese Bedroom
At the very end of the west wing, you enter this room via
exquisite swinging double doors. This is a
very large
bedroom and runs from nearly the entire length, front to back, of the
home.
| These doors are from
China and are over 200 years old.
These delicately carved doors have images on them that were intended to
keep anything bad on the outside. They have been very tenderly,
partially refinished to preserve them with their natural beauty. Graceful and
delicate, these doors are an intriguing addition to the manor. |
 |
There is plenty of room for a king size
bed here. In fact, you could easily put two of them in here.
 |
As in
the other bedrooms, there are can lights in the ceiling to supply reading light when you
are in bed. Light switches on
either side of the bed make turning the lights on and off very
handy. Ceiling can
lights have been placed in two different areas since a bed would
look good in either area. The can lights are on the north and
west sides of the room. |
 |
The ceiling of this
attractive room is, again, very different.
|
 |
The
ceiling has a level place in the center then gently slopes on both
sides. |
The
sloped area of the ceiling is in beautiful black mahogany. The center is sheetrock.
|
 |
A
ceiling fan glides over the center of the room. The fan blades
have been designed and created with a Chinese theme exclusively for
this room. On both sides of the fan there are curious looking
light fixtures, put here for enjoyment. |
 |
Light is abundant in here. There is a large window
facing the west overlooking the beautiful
valley that runs down to the spring. Two more large windows face the
south and flank a beautiful sculptured glass door that leads out to the private
balcony.
|
 |
Here, as in the master suite, the view is
astounding. Viewing the southwest part of the property,
including the lake, rolling hills, and the woods beyond. |
 |
An
elegant gas fireplace is in one corner.
|
 |
Because the fireplace is raised, one can easily
enjoy it from the bed. This area also has a reading light situated above
so one can read, enjoy the fire, and gaze at the panorama just outside the
windowpane. |
Massive double doors are on the east wall.
|
 |
These are the doors that lead to the bath.
They match the ones in the French bedroom. |
On the north wall there are two interesting objects.
Facing the wall, there
are two very unusual doors. The came from a castle in China and are over 500
years old.
| It is not only an exquisite
antique, but also is truly a work of art. As you
close the large Chinese doors, you may realize there has been very little
refinishing of these doors because of their uniqueness. Only the parts that had to
be repaired have bad any work done on them. Everything else has been left “as is” so the
doors would continue to embrace the days of centuries gone by. It’s a thrill
just to touch and imagine what all they have seen. They are so very thick and
the bar protecting them had to be so large. What and who have they protected
over the years. These doors bring more mystic to the home. More memories from
the past. More cause to reflect…. |
 |
These doors even have a "lock" such as you would expect on a castle. There
is a large piece of very thick wood on one door. This slides into a large
groove in the other door. Intricate designs grace the door. Two brass
lions stand guard. These are door pulls for these magnificent works of
art. These are the oldest
doors in the home.
Upon
opening these magnificent doors you see there is a closet behind. This closet
has built in closet furnishings. The closet is small and yet
there are double bars for hanging clothes, drawers, and even shelves. There is
a bar that pulls out to hang clothes on for temporary use, such as packing or
dressing. There is a place to hang belts and scarves. It is well designed to
handle a person’s needs.
|
 |
On the opposite end of
this wall is a beautiful built-in bookshelf. This is a distinguished place to keep books to enjoy when you come to this haven to
relax and enjoy a good read. Or it could be a nice what-knot shelf. It is stained to match the other wood
located in this unusual room. |
There is ample room to put a sitting
area here, like in the Master Bedroom. The owner keeps a small
refrigerator for snacks for her guests. The room has one corner where
extra electrical boxes have been put in case someone wanted to place a computer
in here.
There is also a secret in this room? Want to know what it is? Come
see the manor and we'll show you.
Luxury at
it's best!
